Whats the difference between a Component AV Cable and a HDMI cable?
My bday is almost here (11/10). I plan on buying a HD TV. I already have an idea on what TV to get. The 32" Class BRAVIA L Series LCD HDTV.

I dont know how to make a hyperlink for this but that's where i found the TV. If you have experience with an HDTV feel free to tell me what else is out there. Now back to my question. Whats the difference between this two cables. I was reading about the HDMI and I think am wrong but it go me thinkin that the HDMI is only for HDTVs that support 1080p, and the Component AV Cable is for 720p. Can you also tell me with one would give me awesome picture on my ps3. N with iz better. Thanks.
HDMI does both audio (up to 7.1 uncompressed/HD lossless) and video (up to 1080p). Component video cables handle only video, so you would have to send your audio separately--red/white RCA for stereo or optical cable for surround sound. Component video cables have the bandwidth to carry 1080p, but many devices (i.e. TV, receiver, etc.) limit output to 1080i.
If you know where to shop (hint, hint: monoprice.com) you won't spend any more on an HDMI cable than you will on component video cables, so there is no reason to go with anything but HDMI if it's an option.
