If I delete files, will my computer run faster?
Okay, I have a computer and its 1 1/2 years old. It has a 60GB of disk space. Right now 56% of it is being used. I have a ton of video, music, etc (about 15GB). If I were to delete all of it, would my computer run faster? I heard that the more files that are on your computer slows it down. My computer been running a kinda slow. To open Word or Firefox or basically any program it takes about 30 seconds to be ready to use. It used to be a couple seconds. I already deleted unused programs, defragmented, and did a disk cleanup. Also, I have been downloading a ton of music and video since I got a Zune and iPod so would an external hard drive be a good option? I don't really want to delete everything....
Like above post, i would check into updating your ram speed, hard drive space has little to do with anything , Your ram has to deal with handling large amounts of programs like multitasking ....starting up your desktop....if you have alot of programs that open up when you start up i would remove them such as aim yahoo ect they will use up your ram's resouces where it has to work harder which create laging and longer loading time.To check your ram right click on my computer click properties and under general tab it will have all your system information and look where it says (Example) 256 mb of ram, now days anything under 1 gig or 1024 mb is considered slow so if your running 256mb or 512mb thats considered slow and i would think about updating.
How to charge your cellphone/mp3/ipod/zune/whatever you got
