Why do my earphones keep breaking?
Since I lost the headphones that came with my ipod, I use other ones, but they keep breaking! I have gone thru 11-12 earphones in the past year, and i'm getting tired of having to constantly buy new ones every month or so. But they all break the same way. One of the ear buds(I think the left) will start to flicker when the jack connected to the ipod is in a certain position. I move it over a little and it stops. Then, each day the spot that causes the ear bud to go out gets bigger, until no matter where I turn the plug-in jack, there's no music coming in ear bud. This is getting annoying, I've spent almost $150 on replacement headphones. They are all ear buds, none of them are the same brand, and it's not the ipod. Does anyone know why this keeps happening?
(If it makes a difference, I use my headphones about 5-6 hours a day, on computer and ipod.)
My son had the same problem. We finally wound up getting more expensive ear buds for his computer and ipod.
What's happening is every time you put any tension or stress on that side it's weakening the wire going into the ear bud. Every time you move it or try to get it to work you're weakening the connection or solder more, so eventually the wire or the connection breaks.
We went with 80.00 headphones about 4 months ago and haven't had a problem since then. It seems like they're made better and soldered better. Hope this helps.
