found out part of property i've taken care of over 15 years is neighbors. Heard of statue giving ownership.???
property corner cut off by neighbor and we never new. we have taken care of for two generations. I heard theres a law that gives you ownership if this is the case. the property is about 25ft. by 50ft by 75ft (triangle(guess)). The house was foreclosed on so I was looking at tax records which brought this to my attention. My wife is 36 and its the house she grew up in so i figure has been that way for that long. Any info would be great. thanks
My neighbor's just discovered that part of their pool was actually on the neighbor's property. It was built way back in the 50's and the property had been owned by the wife's family since the 30's. They were able to petition the city for a variance, pay back property tax on that portion of the land and the neighbor ceded them the property. They went to the county assessor's office to get the original survey of the property and they advised them as to the procedures to follow. I suggest you start there and then call the city.
