Why wont removable disk recognize external hard drive?
Ok, this is going to sound a bit weird, and I probably wont get a resolution since it seems like I've tried every possible website... But I have a digital picture frame that recognizes both USB flash/stick drives and my iriver MP3 player through a USB cord.
Now in my mind I thought, this is great, now I'll be able have all my pictures/drawings displayed from my picture frame as long as either device is hooked up. I looked at my 200gb external HD and thought it would work on the same principle, but it doesn't.
I don't have the manual for the picture frame as it was a gift, but I am pretty sure this is the one

... the picture frame itself doesn't even have a logo or anything, just the slogan (when it powers on) "always on time"
My guess is that because an HDD obviously isn't the same as a flash drive, but I don't know what my iriver classifies as
My first guess is that your 200 Gig Hard drive is NOT formatted to a FAT32 file system like USB memory is. It is probably formatted to NTFS (or HPFS if you are using a Mac) instead, which the picture frame can't read.
My second guess is that the picture frame can't read "large" hard drives. By large, I mean over 137 GB. Perhaps the limit is even smaller such as 8 GB.
