HOW CAN I TELL THE DIFFERENCE?
I was going to buy Rush's Moving Pictures CD. At Best Buy, all they have is the "Digipak," which is a copy in a cardboard gatefold casing. That's $10, so I was going to buy a factory sealed copy of the CD version (regular plastic casing, not the Digipak) on eBay for $7.38.
Is there any difference in sound quality between the Digipak and the regular CD?
There is no sound quality difference, digipaks have the same CDs that the hard casing does. The only difference is the packaging. I have two digipaks and I LOVE them. They are much thinner so easier to store, plus the album art is directly on the cover thing like an old vinyl would...its essentially a modern form of vinyl packaging for CDs. I really recommend it, but it does cost more so if you are not huge into packaging then you might want to save money.
