Aaa Batteries 12

Where do i find this battery?

I have a Ceiling fan that is controlled by remote.. some how the battery mysteriously disappeared. The remote says it takes a 12 volt batter which by the size of the spot appears to be a lil shorter than a AAA battery. I can't find this battery ANYWHERE. I've looked at Walmart, Lowes, Radioshack. This fan is installed in our living room with high vaulted ceilings. And there are no chains to manually start the fan attached. Does anyone know where i can find a 12 v battery for this? Other than buying online?

Sounds like an A23 battery. Radio shack and most hardware stores should have them.
